The Home Improvement industry currently contributes in excess of $325 billion annually to the American economy. Although fragmented in structure, its contribution is more than a cornerstone. It is an industry built on the needs of American property owners to remodel, rehab, maintain and repair their homes, condos, apartments and smaller commercial buildings.
In mid-October 2018, the industry gathered to honor current and past recipients of a prestigious award, Legends of the Home Improvement Industry. This award pays honor and homage to those who were nominated and received this award. The qualification for nomination is as follows:
The nominee has been in the industry for twenty years or more – is or has been an officer or owner of a home improvement company – and – has used unique methods to build their business – has contributed to the growth or status of the industry – has exhibited unique, creative skills in building the business – is a risk taker and/or has a willingness to share — has a history of philanthropy and — has set a high standard for those who follow.

When the history of this great industry is written, may it be recorded that there are individuals and companies who by their example of creativity, leadership and customer care have created the foundation and standards, which have become benchmarks.
This highly coveted award, which was established in 1999 by a management organization – HIMS (Home Improvement Management Summit – established 1986), is based on nominations from past recipients, vendors, peer groups, trade press and associations representing the industry.
