Dear American Metal Roofs,
There's still more than four feet of hardpack snow on the ground here in Paradise, Michigan, but I believe that the worst of winter is over. Another foot or so might fall before Whitefish Point is snow-free in late April, but the days are growing longer and more sunny, and the worst is over. At this time I don't have the official snowfall for '08 -'09, but we'd passed 200 inches back in January, and had shoveled the house and barn roofs four times. I believe I can now present as comprehensive an opinion of our new American Metal Roof as this year allows.
So far as shedding snow, steel roofs have never worked well here, and then only if a roof has a very steep pitch. Subzero temperatures and winds off Lake Superior seem to cause the steel's surface to frost, giving snow a foothold, and once a layer of snow attaches itself, subsequent layers can build up to depths of several feet, requiring the roof to be shoveled.
The dimpled Oxford, shake gray roof that was installed by Charlie, Shawn, and the rest of American's crew has already proved that it will shed snow more effectively than steel roofs. The day the installation crew left us ended with four inches of snowfall. The snow lay atop the Oxford shingles for less than forty-eight hours before a shooshing sound signaled that the roof was cleaning itself. My Siberian husky, Moki, didn't think it was so great when her "nest" on a snowbank under the eaves was suddenly buried under a cloud of powder (I laughed myself to tears - I've never seen her move so fast). I was actually happy to shovel the snow that slid down onto our porch, because no other roof in this area had even begun to shed that most recent snowfall by the time ours was entirely snow-free.
The quality of installation rates a number of well deserved kudos. First, American's crew was outstanding: Polite, very considerate, and efficient. I snapped photos throughout the installation, and I looked for mistakes and oversights, especially around edges and corners. If there are any errors, I haven't found one. The finished roof can legitimately be described as a thing of beauty.
Not surprisingly, several of our neighbors have asked about our new aluminum roof, even stopping by just to see it and to ask Cheanne and me how we like it. The answer is that we like it a lot, and we'll recommend an aluminum roof from American Metal Roofs to anyone who needs a new or resurfaced roof. Thank you for doing a great job installing a great product.
Not least of all, thank you for the peace of mind that comes with knowing that our roof will never be damaged by the notoriously heavy snow loads that cover this area, nor will Cheanne and I have to perform the dangerous, back-breaking labor of removing that snow. That alone makes our new roof well worth the cost.
Sincerely,
Len McDougall

Dear American Metal Roofs,
We want to thank you for the great experience working with your company. Right from our 1st phone call we were treated with wonderful customer service. We visited your showroom in Flint, and were promptly given a tour. We learned much from that visit as well. Then a sales rep met with us at our cottage and spent a lot of time educating us and answering all of our questions. Richard and the crew that came to put our roofs on our 2 cottages were prompt, and very courteous. They stayed in our guest cottage, and left the place as they found it. They even left us a Thank you card!!! They were done with both roofs in 5 days, cleaned up the job site and did great work. When we need another roof we will definitely come to American Metal Roofs.
We love our new roof. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Tim and Melinda Glowniak

The roof looks great. Rich and Crew did a wonderful job. I loved the fact that they cleaned up the yard every night. I have many comments for friends and family as to how surprised they were that the yard was so neat. I’m looking forward to never having to worry about my roof again.
Thanks for everything,

Dear Frank and employees,
We would like to express our thanks for a job well done and for the quality of the product. Everything was handled in a very professional manner. We are extremely happy and satisfied with the product and workmanship on our new metal roof.
The crew was extremely respectful, informative in answering all our questions and followed the contract exactly in the clean-up process. The installation went quickly and the crew was very solicitous of our needs. They were well-dressed and clean-cut, never giving us a moment’s apprehension about their abilities and capabilities. They frequently asked about our level of satisfaction with their work and asked if we had any questions.
We would not hesitate to recommend American Metal Roofs to anyone of our family and friends. Our neighbors are already complimenting us on the beauty of the roof. We felt both product and service to be exceptional in quality. We are not only happy with the roof, but with the entire process of obtaining it-the crew, the installation, and the way we were treated. Thank you once again.
Sincerely,
Julian Jaracz

Dear Mr. Farmer:
I have been very pleased thus far with my roof that your company installed on my lake front home in the City of Sylvan Lake. I find that I am getting back $500 from the government as a tax credit.
Enclosed you will find an article from the Detroit Free Press and a copy of the form that I used to receive the $500 refund.
Homes on the water are generally not losing any value but the addition of your was a great value considering the value of my home and the small amount of investment.
Continued success to you. I know that in these times many of my friends that are I the building business are having hard times. Anything that I can do to assist you in your business, I will do.

American Metal Roofs
I chose American Metal Roofs when I was looking for a company to replace my asphalt shingle roof that was in pretty bad shape.
At the time my home was built, I received no warranty information regarding roofing material loss or damage. Therefore, I was not aware that I had any recourse when I started losing roof material. The loss of material finally reached a critical point and I contacted American Metal Roofs for more information about metal roofing products. I was looking for a permanent solution to my roofing problems.
My experience with American Metal roofs has been very positive. Every person associated with the company, from office staff to field personnel, was pleasant and friendly. There was never any scrap material left at the end of the day on any day of installation. The job site was left in its original condition when the job was completed.
My new roof is beautiful and the correction of ventilation problem should make a noticeable change in the comfort of my home now that the air in the attic space is moving as it should.
I would recommend American Metal Roofs to anyone looking for a long-term solution to roofing problems. My thanks to you and all the staff for being so very helpful.

To whom it may concern,
My name is Linda Neuenfeldt and have lived at 9276 Silver lake Rd., Linden, MI 48451 for the past 36 years. The house was built in 1965 and has been added onto three times – our garage, once a porch and once an addition the length of the house.
At this time, we have standard 3-tab shingles. The front section of the house has had the same shingles for roughly 20 years. The new addition, which is at the back of the house, has had shingles for seven years. The newer shingles look much worse than the old ones. We do not know the warranty on any of these shingles. We have been experiencing some leakage in the porch as well as in the new addition. We have not filed a claim and don’t intend to as it would probably not be worth our time or effort.
We decided to go with American Metal Roofs after my daughter and I attended a Home & Garden show and had a representative come out – the president, no less. He explained the problems and how they should be repaired. We knew the roof needed to be replaced; but no one else covered information as thoroughly.
Sincerely,
Linda Neuenfeldt

Hi all:
When I bought my house in the summer of 2007, it needed a new roof. Question was: what kind? Asphalt or metal? And if metal, could I do it myself?
Metal appealed over asphalt shingles for its longer-lasting qualities, its superior ability to shed snow and ice, and its (to me) superior aesthetics. Problem was: I didn’t know much (who am I kidding?; more like: “I didn’t know anything”) about installing a metal roof- and did I really want to fork out the big dollars for a metal roof?
I began looking around in earnest and came across American Metal Roofs’ advertising flier tucked away in a coupon booklet and soon found myself attending one of AMR’s Do-It-Yourself roofing seminars in Kalkaska. And I am glad I did.
My reasons are simple. The AMR seminar, led by Rick Ancel and one of his professional field installers, covered the finer points of AMR’s higher-grade aluminum shingles versus steel (superior paint adhesion, rustproof vs. rust-resistant, reflects radiant energy), and the seminar provided the foundation of installation how-to necessary to do the job right. The AMR staff were extremely helpful and ready to answer any questions – and by that I mean during the seminar itself, of course, but also all through the purchase – decision phase, and most importantly, after the sale was completed when professional answers to practical questions really counted. Once the rubber meets the road (or in this case, when the aluminum shingles meet the roof deck), Rick and the AMR staff really distinguished themselves in service after the sale. Rick said at the seminar: “We will not let you fail,” and he was as good as his word. Once I got started on my roofing project, all of my many questions were answered by Rick or one of his professional installers with patient professionalism and welcome good cheer.
One big advantage for the do-it yourselfer: Installing an AMR aluminum-shingle roof instead of opting for asphalt shingles eliminated the need to tear up the old asphalt shingles for replacement. Instead, a cover-over of the existing roof saved plenty of time and sweat-equity irritation. Plus aluminum shingles are a lifetime solution and won’t flake or curl like asphalt. When combined with the Lifetime Warranty on materials and the additional resale value an aluminum-shingle roof added to my home, I’ve been thoroughly satisfied with my decision.
And the cost? Yes, the do-it-yourself price for an aluminum AMR roof was higher than a contracted asphalt-shingle roof, but not extravagantly higher. But it’s not the old price vs. value choice. For me, the long-term benefit of installing an attractive, maintenance-free lifetime aluminum-shingle roof provided infinitely more value (and satisfaction) than the short-term settling for an asphalt-shingle roof job done by someone else. Everybody’s different, but that’s how things shook out for me. Your mileage may vary.
So in closing I just wanted to say I greatly appreciated the helpfulness and professionalism of the AMR staff, especially Rick Ancel and Holly. And if you are considering a metal roof, I wish to offer my unconditional recommendation of the AMR staff and its aluminum-shingle product.
Best Wishes,
David Richey

Dear American Metal Roofs,
I just wanted to let you know what a great crew you have and that I am very pleased with the roof project. The roof looks awesome; the crew knew what they were doing and cleaned up very well before they left. Also, Bill Susewitz was a pleasure working with as he really knew the product and thoroughly covered every detail of the project. I will gladly refer American Metal Roofs to anyone I come across in the future.

Dear Mr. Farmer:
This letter is to tell you how much we appreciate having our new Centurion standing seam metal roof with its Hi-R Kynar energy efficient coating that your company installed at the end of June.
Your salesman, Bill Susewitz, was very open and helpful in comparing all our options. His most persuasive point, that led us to choose your company over other bidders, was that an aluminum roof will not suffer the same corrosion that a steel roof inevitably would. The roof finish will surely become scratched at some point (by small branches falling from our nearby birch trees, if nothing else), and since the roof is aluminum, those scratches will not rust.
Your installation supervisor, Charlie Patnode, and his Kalkaska crew of Norm, Dave, Steve, and one whose name I unfortunately missed, were very professional and responsive throughout the week they were here. Charlie is clearly an excellent supervisor, and his crewmates work well together as a team. I was very impressed with their metalworking skills, particularly in fabricating the new flashing around our brick chimney and the pieces that cover the plumbing vents through the roof (a nice decorative roof decking and fascia boards. I was also impressed by their commitment to worksite safety, highlighted by the fact that your Safety Director, James Kuykendall, actually visited the job in person.
We have received many favorable comments from our neighbors and from people who jog and bicycle past our home about how good the roof looks. Its color coordinates extremely well with our existing brown trim color. One of the most frequent questions we receive is “Doesn’t the rain sound louder with a metal roof?” We have had only one good rain since its installation, but I can answer with certainty that rain is no louder on our new American Metal Roof than it was when we had asphalt shingles. I think having adequate insulation in the attic is the key to low noise, so the roofing material doesn’t really affect the noise level.
We can now plan on enjoying our retirement home without ever having to worry about replacing its roof for the rest of our lives. We are also looking forward to reduced heating bills next winter due to the increased energy efficiency of our new American Metal Roof. Thanks again!
Sincerely,
Helen and Roger Dewey

We are extremely pleased with our new roof from American Metal Roofing. We chose the Country Manor Shake and just love the results. The crew was amazing, very organized, and always working for the betterment of the property. They were very professional, and we had no qualms about the integrity of their work. Kevin was a fantastic site manager, answering all questions we had, and assuring us all along the way. They had to tear off old cedar shake and they left the site clean daily. We did not have an easy roof to re-do, and the results are beautiful. We would not hesitate to recommend American Metal Roofs to anyone.

Dear Frank,
Just wanted to let everyone know how pleased we are with our new Standing Seam metal roof. It looks GREAT! Thank you everyone.
The work crew of Mike, Dennis and Roger were very professional and easy to work with. Always ready to answer any question or concern.
I want to especially thank Frank for listening to my concerns and addressing them. It was very refreshing, for me, as a woman, to be taken seriously, listened to and not have you speak past me to my husband.
We have been impressed with everyone at American Metal Roofs that we have had contact with. From the free seminar, through the water leak and the review of the proper ventilation we have been treated with friendly, caring, professional people. The openness of explaining questions and freely showing how everything is done, especially the air flow demonstration of proper ventilation was very impressive. Since our major problem was inadequate ventilation that demonstration, Frank’s straight forward solution to our problem and an obvious quality product made our decision to have our roof problems solved by American Metal Roofs.
We will definitely recommend American Metal Roofs to anyone thinking of having a beautiful, permanent, quality roof installed on their home.
Thanks again to everyone at American Metal Roofs.

To: American Metal Roofs, Joyce Turner and Frank Farmer
I just had to write to tell you how satisfied my wife and I are with our new American Metal Roof along with service and treatment that we received. Our experience began with the sales representative who responded promptly to an email inquiry about your product. The sales representative was very pleasant and knowledgeable.
Our positive experience with the company continued as the work crew began the installation of the roof. I feel that your company is very fortunate to have such a professional work crew representing American Metal Roofs. The crew that worked on our roof is the hardest working crew that I have seen in a long time. They worked in 20 degree temperatures, non-stop, for three days. They are very professional and highly skilled craftsmen. After working all day on the job, the crew cleaned up after themselves making it appear as if no work was in progress. There was never a mess around the house. I would like to say a special thank you to the crew that installed our roof.
We are very happy with the finished product. We love the look of the roof and appreciate the 40-year warranty. Now my wife and I need not worry about future roof repairs.
Again, we say thank you to you and the work crew of American Metal Roofs. Thank you for a job well done.
Sincerely,

American Metal Roof Team,
Kind, caring, meticulous, knowledgeable, and very dedicated to their work. It was such a nice feeling inside to drive up to our home having an outstanding team construct such a masterpiece on the top of our home.
Instead of wearing our sweatshirts from dawn to dusk, they are now kept in the drawers once the roof was put on. We are now able to dial down the thermostat and still feel comfortable.
Our new metal roof gets an A on the Giordano Family’s report card.
We commend you on your expertise. Happy Roofing to all of you.
Smile,
Sue, Jim, Erik and Matthew Giordano

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation to you and your company for the new roof that was recently installed on my home. In trying to determine the best product to use when replacing the roof on our turn-of-the century home, my wife and I considered the many different options available. Ultimately, we were looking for a roof that was consistent with the style of our house and lived up to our expectations regarding quality.
From the beginning, representatives of AMERICAN METAL ROOFS were the embodiment of professionalism and efficiency. We are very pleased that we chose American Metal Roofs to install our new aluminum roof system. They brought with them all of the supplies they would need, a crew large enough to efficiently complete the job, and a trailer capable of fabricating material needed to solve the unique challenges that our house had to offer. The manner in which the roof was applied to our existing roof nearly eliminated the need for any cleanup. We were thrilled that we were able to get a brand new roof with virtually no tear off.
Finally, we have been absolutely thrilled with the end product. Our new roof has added a character and style to our home that we could never have accomplished with an ordinary shingle roof. We literally have had complete strangers stop by and compliment us on our new roof. We just cannot say enough how happy we are with the final results. Knowing that our new roof will last and continue to look the same way in fifty years only adds to our level of satisfaction.
Thanks again, Frank!
Sincerely,

Dear American Roof,
This letter is written to express our thoughts on our experience with American Roof.
Our new roof has been a beautiful and striking addition to our log home. What is most appreciated is how attentive Gene has been to our job throughout. His follow-up and considerate way of meeting our needs made us feel comfortable knowing we could depend on him.
Gene’s craftsmanship has performed well in the harsh rain and snowstorms we have experienced in Michigan this last year.
We are very pleased with our new roof and would recommend American Roofs and the Rustic Shingle.
Best Regards,

Dear Mr. Farmer,
I’m writing to you concerning the aluminum roof your company installed on my home. My wife, Janet, and I are very pleased with the results and would definitely recommend American Roofs to other people. In fact, just last weekend a couple stopped by our house (people we’ve never met before) and asked us about our roof. We gave them one of your handouts and told them what wonderful work you did.
Our home is an 1865-era, brick Victorian house that still had the original tin roof when we moved in a couple years ago. Last spring, the ceiling above the foyer began to leak, and we knew we had to replace that part of the roof at least. We were concerned that the rest of the roof might start leaking as well, so we decided to replace the entire thing. But we wanted to keep the look of the original roof, and traditional shingles just wouldn’t do.
My wife did research about metal roofs, but we only found two companies that said they could install them. Well, it turned out the first company to visit our home really couldn’t do metal, so we called you next. Your representative was friendly, and even though this type of roof is more costly than regular shingles, we managed to work out a price that we could afford. Also, when your salesman found out that the material was being upgraded to a new, thicker style, he stuck with the original price, even though the new aluminum cost more than he thought. We were also impressed by your lifetime guarantee (50-year transferable if we sell the house), so that was a big factor, too.
Because of our home’s age and unusual structure (lots of weird angles and two skylights), the actual installation time lasted about two weeks, but we were okay with this because we could tell your workmen wanted to do the job right, not just quickly (it ended up being quite a learning experience for them!) The end result is fabulous! We often get compliments about the roof, and it hasn’t given us any problems at all! Thank you for helping us get a roof that looks great and tremendously increases the value of our house!
Sincerely,
Kevin Hile

Frank Farmer,
Thank you for a job well done. The Classic Rustic Shingle roof looks great and is an asset.
Gene Walton and all the crew were professional in dress, tee shirts and hats, courteous in manner and tidy in the work areas around the house.
The house and garage look beautiful and is an asset to the whole neighborhood. People stop to look and ask many questions about the metal roof.
I am pleased with the fact that the roof carries a 50-year warranty and it’s transferable if in the future I should decide to sell the home.
Thanks again for a job well done and for Frank Farmer’s total honesty. It was a pleasure dealing with someone of such high integrity.
Thanks so much for a job well done.

Dear Sirs,
In March of this year I saw an ad in the Flint Journal about a company installing metal roofs. I went to the Home Show at the I.M.A. in Flint and viewed the display and asked for an estimate.
Mr. Farmer came right out and did a wonderful job of describing the installation of aluminum roof and repair of my 2 solar panels. I signed a contract with them on the spot.
On May 7, 2001, the crew appeared and started the job. Today, May 8, 2001, they are almost completed with the installation.
Mr. Farmer said they were professional workers. They exceed my expectations. They are the most courteous and professional workers I have witnessed.
I would highly recommend them to all.
Sincerely,
